Had a great day out at the Dalek invasion event at FAAM.K9 had his first public outing however it did not quite go as planned. The crowds were massive and at times there were far to many kids trying to pull K9 arround. I probably should not have taken him to this event due to the fact that he was not totally finished and did not have the neccessary water pistol and smoke effects to scare the kids off when they get to friendly.
It definately was a baptism of fire, with one girl falling onto him, losing one ear, having his head twisted around and breaking hist tail. Generally he held up well and delt with all the bumps and heavy children very well. The tail design was flawed anyway and this is the reason it failed. When I checked out the servo controlling the tail all the internal cogs had been stripped. The ears where always going to be the weak link and now after this event I think I will either have to make up spare ears or make them as one welded piece.
I am glad I attended the event though even through the crowds were massive becasue I got to meet the voice of K9 ( John Leason) and get K9 signed, what a very nice guy.
